Horse Workshops in Central Oregon

Work hands-on with your own horse in a small group of no more than eight riders. Together we'll identify the problems that hold you back, and you'll learn how to solve them yourself.

How It Works

Hands-On Training, Focused on Your Horse

Each workshop is a two-hour, hands-on session built around problem-solving. You bring your horse and the issues you're working through, whether it's a horse that's hard to bridle or one that's afraid of obstacles, and we work on them together so you leave knowing how to handle them yourself.

2-Hour Sessions

Enough time to work through real problems with your horse, with hands-on guidance from start to finish.

Individual Problem-Solving

Every horse is different. We work on the problems your horse actually has, not a one-size-fits-all routine.

Small Group, Limited Space

No more than eight riders per workshop, so everyone gets time and attention from Kristine.

What We Work On

Sound Familiar?

These are some of the most common problems owners bring to our workshops. If your horse does any of these, you're in the right place.

01

Hard to Bridle

Head tossing, raising the head, or clamping the mouth shut when the bridle comes out.

02

Fear of Obstacles

Refusing, balking, or spinning away from tarps, poles, bridges, water, or anything new.

03

Spooky or Reactive

Jumping at sounds, shadows, or movement, and struggling to settle once something sets them off.

04

Pushy on the Ground

Crowding your space, dragging you on the lead, or walking over the top of you.

05

Won't Stand to Mount

Walking off, swinging away, or fidgeting while you're trying to get on.

06

Buddy Sour

Calling out, balking, or fighting to get back to their friends when asked to leave the other horses.

07

Picking Up Feet

Leaning, snatching feet away, or refusing to stand quietly for hoof care.

08

Lack of Respect

Ignoring your cues, testing boundaries, or doing their own thing instead of listening.

Coming Soon

The #1 Problem We See

Trailer Loading Workshop

Trailer loading is the most common problem owners bring to us, so it's getting a workshop of its own. We'll build your horse's confidence in the trailer with several exercises we show you. In time, they'll help your horse walk on calmly, stand quietly, and unload safely.

Dates will be announced soon. Want to hear first? Tick the email updates box when you sign up, or follow us on Facebook.

Don't see your horse's problem here? Tell us when you sign up, and we'll let you know honestly whether a workshop is the right fit.

Our Approach

Our Workshops Are Built on Clinton Anderson’s Method

The Method is a horse-training program built on respect, trust, consistency, and clear communication between horse and human. Through groundwork, body language, and pressure and release, horses learn to understand what you're asking. The result is a calm, confident, respectful horse that listens, responds, and is a pleasure to ride.

In simple terms: horses and humans learning to understand each other and work together as a team.

K Bar M Equine Services is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Clinton Anderson or Downunder Horsemanship.

Before You Sign Up

Is a Workshop Right for You?

We'd rather tell you up front than have you and your horse in the wrong setting.

A Great Fit If…

  • Your horse has a specific problem you want to fix, like bridling, obstacles, or ground manners
  • You want to learn how to handle it yourself, not just have it fixed for you
  • You enjoy learning alongside other horse owners
  • Your horse is sound and comfortable being around other horses
  • You're a beginner or experienced rider, age 10 and up (riders under 18 with a parent present)

Private Training May Be Better If…

  • Your horse is dangerous, aggressive, or unsafe around people or other horses
  • Your horse is unstarted and has never been ridden
  • You'd prefer one-on-one attention in a private session

Not sure? Ask us. We'll give you an honest answer, and if a workshop isn't the right fit, we'll suggest what is.

What to Bring

  • Your horse, clean and ready to work, with current vaccinations
  • Your tack (saddle and bridle)
  • A rope halter (don't have one? Ask ahead and we'll bring a spare)
  • A lead rope
  • A training stick ("handy stick") for groundwork
  • Water for you and your horse
  • A helmet (recommended, not required)
  • Proper riding boots: required
